Polyvinyl has just released Grids digitally and for the first time you can get a Family Time release from itunes. That’s cool right? We still have a few cdrs and cassettes. We will be reissuing Grids on a 10″ too with LA’s Track Number records. More info tba.

French Quarter is amazing, they played my old house about 4 years ago and they were the best. They traveled with a PA for the Bass/Guitar and Vocals and they sounded amazing. 2 Lps later they are still consistently touring. Their sound can be pinned as singer/songwriter stuff but the instrumentation and the thoughtfulness are far more dynamic than that.
Norse Horse is playing their first show after their west coast tour with their solidified line up playing tunes from both e.p.s. So Many Wizards are Long Beach’s folky hard workers and Moses Campbell are the Smell’s newest youth. This show will rule and people should go!

Bestial Mouths – New Album

I don’t know why I haven’t posted on this yet but the Bestial Mouths record Hissing Veil is out now on the renowned Dais Records (Cold Cave, Iceage, Psychic T.v…) The album approaches 40 minutes and is beautifully recorded which each track defying genre to come out sounding creative fresh and not to be held to a particular period in music. They just got back from NY playing Weird Records and Saturday they are playing an in store performance at Vacation Vinyl in LA to promote the release of the new record.

New Blood: Naomi Punk – The Spell

I heard about Naomi Punk while I was on tour in Seattle with Norse Horse. This band is dope! Punk/heavy/smart and really inventive. They come from a long list of forward thinking Washington bands that I love(Stephanie, M.Women, etc.), but Naomi Punk, in particular, hit pretty hard with on The Spell. The production is solid and the parts of the song sounds so fluid, nothing forced. The vocal melody choices create a decadent backdrop to churning guitar chords and patient drum patterns.

Check out their Bandcamp, they have a bunch of songs up there and I think all of it is pretty worthwhile

I think I have finally settled on this website being the final site. Sorry for the confusion, I think this will make things easier on me and make me able to keep people up to date about what Family Time is doing and things related.

Grids is the new e.p. from Norse Horse. After a couple compilations and split releases Norse Horse has returned. You can pre-order the e.p. here. All pre-orders will ship August 16th before the actual release date(August 23rd). We will have copies for sale on our west coast tour starting Saturday August 6.

Fam 020 Dazzle Ships – Least Resistance 7″
Tyler Haran of other Family Time fame joins the young Hatii De Leon to form Dazzle Ships. Together they write pop songs with a strong sense of rhythm and precision. As seen on the record’s opener, Least Resistance is a mid-tempo jammer that is both danceable and patient. Boring analysis aside Dazzle Ships show a lot of promise since their not so distant beginnings, Least Resistance 7″ is good scope in what this band is capable of doing and what i think this band will do on a long player.
